WATER SPORTS
sailing, kayaking, cruising and windsurfing.

Needless to say, watersports abound in Caye Caulker.  In addition to snorkeling and scuba diving, visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, sailing, kayaking, cruising and windsurfing.  Manatee watching trips can be arranged to Swallow Caye Wildlife Reserve south of Caye Caulker, where visitors can observe the endangered West Indian Manatee. Manatee watching is also a favorite at Coral Gardens during certain times of the year.

Snorkelers and swimmers also venture into the water from many of the island’s beach areas.  Rental of masks, fins and snorkels are also available.  Visitors are advised to be cautious and avoid areas with heavy boat traffic, especially off the end of busy docks.  The Split is a popular location for snorkeling and swimming from shore. Staying clear of the middle of the waterway is recommended because of strong currents and boat traffic.
