SNORKELING
Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley

Snorkelers will find themselves at home in Caye Caulker, as there are so many snorkel sites to choose from.  Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley and Coral Gardens are the most popular snorkeling adventures near Caye Caulker, all less than 30 minutes away.

Hol Chan, the Maya name for “narrow channel”, is a good place for snorkelers to marvel at snapper, large grouper, queen triggerfish, moray eels and a host of coral formations.  Snorkeling is done in shallow water, about 6-8 feet in most areas.

Visitors can swim with sting rays and docile nurse sharks at Shark Ray Alley.  Horse-eyed jacks, gray snappers and triggerfish are usually spotted as well. Caye Caulker Shark Ray Village also features sting rays and sharks in shallow water.
